Of all the events I have ever attended, I have to say that last night was truly special. I had the honor of spending some time with some pretty amazing, inspiring women at NYC’s Bottomless Closet. Bottomless Closet is an organization created to help women who are dealing with poverty and other difficult times. At Bottomless Closet volunteers provide a safe place for the women to come together, network and build their self-esteem through workshops.
Last night’s event was hosted by celebrity stylist, Derek Warburton, who has been volunteering with this organization for seven years. Derek shared a personal story with all of us as to why he feels such a strong connection to the women who come to Bottomless Closet. Derek’s story as well as all of the women who attended last night’s workshop touched me beyond belief. These women have a strength that should be admired.
Myself and several other bloggers worked personally with the women to help style them with clothing they could use at work or for attending interviews. I worked with a woman named Sandra who is not only battling breast cancer, but ovarian cancer as well. She was full of energy and wanted to get pieces of clothing with a pop of color to bring positivity into her life. We also chatted about beauty tips and what products would work best for her skin type. Sandra’s positive attitude and heartwarming story will stay with me forever.

Bottomless Closet holds a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to continue volunteering with them. You can also help by donating clothes and other items for the women who attend the workshops.
