Makeup artist Bobbi Brown said, “Being Pretty Powerful is much bigger than beauty. It’s about confidence and the path you take to achieve it.”
Bobbi Brown has launched a ‘Pretty Powerful’ campaign to empower women. She uses women of all different backgrounds and lifestyles to show off the many definitions of beauty. I use makeup to enhance and bring out beauty but I thought to myself, “What makes me pretty powerful when I’m stripped of the makeup?” And it instantly hit me — the two qualities that I would never change…
My positive outlook: I’m a true believer in things happening for a reason. It doesn’t matter what a situation starts off as — what actually matters is what I take from it. I believe that it’s not just about opportunities being given to you, but about creating your own as well.
My ambition: For me settling is not an option. The older we get the quicker we seem to let go of dreams and become more ‘realistic’ about things. I refuse to settle for the norm. I refuse to give in to someone else’s idea of how things should be.
Being positive, being overly ambitious and a dreamer make me pretty powerful. People who changed the world and achieved great things did it because they believed in something and strived towards making that happen. These are the qualities that I believe really make me a beautiful person. At the end of the day when we strip ourselves of makeup, we’re left with our personality. We’re left with those exceptional qualities that make us who we are — and that is pretty powerful.
