This week I was put to WORK. Monday started off promising — I was asked to review a new makeup collection for Dolce & Gabbana (which was so fun). A photo shoot was going on in the studio, which I got to take part of, but not in the way I would have liked to. My task for the day consisted of ordering breakfast and lunch for the crew and models and an afternoon Starbucks run of about 10 completely different drinks. Exhausting — but in between the errands I was in my element writing away for site.
The week continued with a couple more errands which I wasn’t too thrilled about only because the temperatures dropped drastically and city winds are not be taken lightly. The cold weather left me complaining to myself and wondering why I even had to run these errands and then something happened that kicked the negativity out of me. On my way back to the office from one of the errands I ran into Simon van Kempen from the Real Housewives of New York. It wasn’t an amazing run-in, but it reminded me that I’ll never know what opportunities and experiences will come out of even those situations I don’t want to be in.
It’s easy to complain about all the little things in life and take for granted even the smallest of things. Yeah I might be doing this internship for free, but I’m gaining so much experience. I’m getting my name out there, I’m writing a ton and I get to see how a company runs an online publication. The next time you’re annoyed about how badly your day is going or wishing better things would happen to you — stop and count the blessings that are already in your life.
