How-To: Your Quintessential White Button-Down

Often times, when I feel as if I have nothing to wear, I'll grab my trusted staple - the classic, white button-down shirt. A little too formal, you may say, especially since I've worn this particular shirt multiple times to work, job interviews, dinner dates, formal and informal gatherings - but it's the versatility that draws me to this classic, contemporary and fresh piece. As much as I've tried to update my own look with this shirt, I feel like I've exhausted my ideas - but drawing inspiration from the three looks above, my ideas have just begun!

Anna Kendrick worked her white utilitarian shirt by pairing it with a full navy blue high-waisted skirt. The contrast of both the pure white and the navy blue creates a classic and clean cut look. To keep its polished appearance, cognac heels were her go-to choice. Keeping it simple and fun at the same time, Anna Kendrick tops off the ensemble with a bright, eye-catching teal envelope clutch.

Miranda Kerr is surely a fashion icon, and her above ensemble is testament to this. Her sleeveless white blouse is beautifully paired with khaki pants. The black stripe along the sides of her legs draws attention to one of her assets, her legs. Keeping chic with point, ruby red painted heels and sunglasses, this is a look that's both work-friendly and happy hour appropriate.

Carmen Electra keeps elegant yet sexy with her coral jeans and high wedges. To make any white blouse look this way, add a fun colored jean of your choice and wedges for height. Top it off with a gray blazer to offset the bright coral color and take it off when you want to relax. Perfect for brunch or a girl's dinner, this look screams fun and outgoing, but it still understated enough to show off the versatility of the white shirt.
