Feature Friday with Makeup Artist Lauren Napier

N.Y.C makeup artist Lauren Napier has been featured in big publications like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour and has worked with big celebrities including Tina Fey, John Legend, and Amber Heard. I had the great opportunity to interview Ms. Napier for this week's Feature Friday at SuperGlamNews, where I asked Lauren everything from her celeb clientele to holiday makeup must haves.

SuperGlamNews:How did you start as a makeup artist?

Lauren Napier: I was motivated by many factors, I saw a cover of a very popular beauty magazine, it inspired me. I said to myself, “Now is the time, let’s do it! Go for it!”

SGN: Does it feel a little surreal to be featured in big publications like Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ? What were those experiences like?

Seeing my work in international and influential publications was thrilling, it was surreal. I followed my dreams, behaved like a professional and my talents and professional aspirations were materializing right before my eyes!

SGN: What were your experiences working at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week like?

Fashion week is wild, it is a madhouse of bustling creative energy. Backstage is like a labyrinth of racks, blow dryers and curling irons, dressers, models, photographers, designers, producers and makeup, makeup, makeup! I recommend being fashionably comfortable and pack a makeup kit that is overflowing with color choices and options. It's best to be prepared you never know who you may encounter.

SGN: I’ve seen that you worked with a lot of celebrities, including Tina Fey, Amber Heard, and Brittany Snow. Any glimpse into what they are like?

All of my clients and celebrated talent have been really wonderful to work with. The key to working with celebrities is not to talk about it!

SGN: What is the best beauty tip you’ve learned over the years?

Less is more.

SGN: What’s one beauty mistake you’ve seen a lot of women make over the years?

I see women let other women influence their beauty mood. If you're shopping and you like a lipstick, but your best friend with no boyfriend and wears all brown thinks it's "too bright", ignore her and enjoy the color. Make it work for you!

SGN: What’s one product that you can’t live without?

There is never just one product I believe all women need moisturizer, liquid foundation, bronzer, mascara and LIPSTICK!

SGN: The Holiday season is approaching faster than we know it, what are your holiday makeup bag must haves?

Holiday season is fun and festive. It’s the season of when people get dolled up for parties and pictures are taken everywhere from your office party to your Aunt Betty’s holiday harvest.

"My holiday tips are simple: wear a foundation that suits your complexion, it will make you look radiant and healthy. Keep your brows manicured, brows frame the eyes so if you’re caught without makeup you still look bright eyed! Last but not least, if you want to go all out ,sparkle like your favorite , fabulous holiday ornament! Do it with shimmer or pearlized eye shadows and lip glosses. Thick glitter particles are out, subtle shimmer is in!

SGN: In your opinion beauty is?

Beauty is confidence.
