Glam Reads: Golden Boy
When I'm not writing, working and doing countless other things, I love to get lost in a good book. I've always loved reading and can recall always having stacks of books growing up. I've read a couple good books in the last couple of months and if you follow me on Twitter then chances are you've seen multiple tweets on the books I was obsessed with including The Fault In Our Stars (my absolute favorite). In order to further embrace my love of books I'm adding a new section to the blog, Glam Reads, to share my thoughts on current reads and hopefully give you ideas on which books to pick up next.
A couple of days ago I started reading Golden Boy by Abigail Tarttelin. The book is about a seemingly perfect boy -- Max. Max is a star athlete, straight A high school student with great friends and strong family relationships. Underneath the perfect facade, Max and his family hide a huge secret -- Max is intersex. A close friend betrays Max in the worst way possible and the story unfolds from then. I'm a couple hundred pages in so I'm already aware of how the protagonist is betrayed. Now I'm curious to see what happens next. The interesting thing about the book is that each chapter is told by the point of view of the different characters in the book like Max, his mother, younger brother and a couple more. I find Max's character so interesting and am drawn to the story, because I know there are other people with his condition, but never really thought about it until I picked up this book. Once I'm done reading the book I'll have review up as well so stay tuned for that.
